Omniangle CEO to address the FTC Military Consumer Financial Workshop
June 29, 2017
Omniangle Founder and CEO, Jonathan Gillman will be presenting at the Federal Trade Commission 2017 Military Consumer Financial Workshop: Protecting Those Who Protect Our Nation on July 19, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. In a presentation titled, “A Closer Look at Online Promotions Directed at Military Consumers and Strategies to Protect Sensitive Information”, he will provide a cyber-intelligence briefing to the conference on a variety of tactics that active service members and veterans encounter online. “Those who serve our country are not immune to the cyber threats facing all consumers today” said Gillman. “It's critical that active service members and veterans always know who they are giving their sensitive information to and how that information will be used.”
The workshop begins with opening remarks from FTC Acting Chairman, Maureen K. Ohlhausen. “Helping service members and veterans avoid fraud, learn about their legal rights and remedies, and find resources that protect them in the financial area is a top priority.” Acting Chairman Ohlhausen said. “I look forward to hearing from speakers in the private sector, military, and government about how to best protect military consumers on these issues.” The one day workshop will also cover topics on financial issues including scams, identity theft, debt collection, lending, legal rights, credit practices, and auto purchases/financing/leasing. Other panelists and speakers include military consumer advocates, consumer groups, government representatives, military legal services, and industry representatives. All military active duty servicemembers and veterans are invited to attend.
